The Road to Our "Fledgling" Organization "...The objective was to provide decision-makers, interest groups and other citizens with reliable, state-of-the art methods for involving citizens in collaborative and productive problem solving without duplicating the specialized staff in each community. In practical terms, the Center’s long-term goal is to change the way that public decisions are made in Hampton Roads..."Information and Communication Initiative - Team Members Needed!!! On April 4, 2009 at the regional civic engagement summit, the following question was asked:To make public decision making better for all parties and increase mutual trust, what do we recommend as specific improvements for information and communication? View all summit participant responses and analysis of answers to this question here. Attendees at the 2009 Civic Engagement Summit also wanted to know "What was next?" and "How can we stay involved?" Well here is one way you can continue to make a difference in local and regional civic engagement regarding this issue. HRCCE is putting together a Team to distill the above information to create an Information and Communication Policy and Guidelines document that we hope will become the standard regarding how citizens should receive and deliver information as well as how best to communicate with each other and local government. If you would like to join this new HRCCE team, please click here and fill in the short signup form. 2009 Civic Engagement Summit - Summary, Reports and Results The first ever Civic Engagement Summit for Hampton Roads was very well received by about 200 participants on Saturday April 4, 2009.
